This wonderful knock came against a strong team which has good bowling unit in a knockout game of World Cup.
It’s none other than Harmanpreet Kaur’s 171 off just 115 balls with 20 boundaries and 7 huge sixes against the 6 times world champions Australia which had a good bowling unit.
It was a very important game for India playing their Semi final against the favourites Australia, everyone thought it’s very tough for India to win against the mighty team but Harmanpreet Kaur had other ideas. She had just one thing in mind that is to attack, attack and attack.
She took time to get settle by scoring her 50 in 64 balls, her second came off another 26, and her third off a barely believable 17.
Australia threw everything at Kaur - seam, left-arm spin, offspin, legspin and even part-time dibbly-dobblers - but nothing could stop her, she keep hitting at her will. Australia could not recover from the Harmanpreet Kaur’s strom and they lost the match leaving India to finals.
I rate this knock as an important one because Indian women’s team needed a recognition which Kaur helped by making India to play their 2nd finals in World Cup. This is like the period for women’s cricket which happened for men’s cricket in 1983.
I had always wished to see women’s cricket performance but I could’nt since the women’s cricket are not telecasted but this world cup gave me a wonderful oppurtunity to witness some great cricket by these wonderful women’s.
I feel this is the right time to start writing about women’s cricketers performance and matches too so that they too get the recognition like the same men’s cricketers get.
